It occurred to me several years ago. I always liked to travel in different ways, until one day I saw two travelers with their well-equipped motorcycles, carrying just what was necessary without depending on flight schedules, buses, airports and above all, being able to get anywhere! The idea of traveling on 2 wheels became clear to me.
At first I didn’t know what motorcycle to choose, or when I could do it.
One day in Dubrovnik (Croatia), where I was working at the time, I saw a yellow BMWf800GS and I knew it was the perfect motorcycle for this style of travel. I put that goal in my head and began to focus to make it happen. Because of this realization, I worked in other European countries in order to gather the necessary resources for my journey. In June 2015, I finally got the motorcycle to California.
After a brief trip through different states of the USA, I began to equip myself and to mark the route that I would make of Mexico once the trip begins. At first I calculated that it would be 3 months and 20,000kms, but finally it took me 8 months and 36,000kms. With this I crossed 13 countries until I arrived in Santiago.
It was one of the most incredible trips I have made, overcoming various risk situations and gaining a lot of experience. It made me see life differently.
A couple of years later, while working in Chile, I resumed the route to Ushuaia and thus managed to meet the goal of the American Continent. This year I finally concluded the second stage: 22 countries in Europe in 2 months and more than 10,000k (same motorcycle).
There is nothing like traveling by motorcycle. 100 km by car or by motorcycle are a totally different trip. This gives you the freedom to reach the most inaccessible places; You are at the mercy of the weather and you constantly have to make fast decsions.
I rarely do conventional tourism, for me traveling by motorcycle is living the roads off the great roads crossing rural sectors and crossing national parks without hurry. The best thing about traveling with a motorcycle of this style is that it takes you where nobody arrives, moving along little traveled roads.
“It is believing the story and leaving, everything else is coming slowly … put a brake on the routine that leads you have to give up several things … It is not easy”
In my bags I carry everything I need; tent, camping equipment, chairs, table, kitchen equipment, camera equipment, tools and more. The most important thing is that each item of the motorcycle is against water so as not to spend bad times.
Is to believe the story and leave, everything else starts coming slowly … put a brake on the routine and give up several things. It is difficult. Once the trip has been completed, I look for work opportunities in these places so as not to leave aside the professional field.
To achieve this nomadic lifestyle, you have to have the power of decision; It is the only to get results Above all you have to get carried away by instinct and motivation. Finally, what ends up opening doors is the attitude you have towards life.
“My ultimate goal is to go around the world in stages, also taking advantage of living and working abroad”
Determination, time, perseverance and savings. At this moment, I am creating the “Time-Line” for the next trips and I would not mind a sponsorship in case we have an interested reader… haha
My ultimate goal is to go around the world in stages, also taking advantage of living and working abroad and at the same time being filled with experiences taught by different cultures and nomadic life.
